How to spin a pen

Locate the center of gravity (CoG) on the pen. Do this by balancing it on your finger. This is important because you need to know where to hold the pen. Hold it on the wrong side of CoG and the pen will just go flying.

There are two parts of spinning the pen. For the first part hold the pen between your pointer and thumb, kind of like you were holding it to write. You will be holding it to the left of the CoG. Pinch the pen lightly to apply pressure and then snap your pointer finger back along the shaft of the pen.

If done correctly the pen will spin over the top of your thumb and you will need to catch it with your thumb and middle finger.

If you did that step correctly the pen should be in perfect position for the following spin. If not, for this step the pen should be between your middle finger and thumb with you holding it to the right of the CoG. Now you will want to try to spin the pen with a motion very similar to snapping your fingers lightly. So, just pretend like you're snapping your fingers lightly.

Catch the pen between your pointer and thumb.
