It's easier than you think to get rid of ugly grout stains.

Have you moved into an old house with nice tiles in the bathroom, but ugly nasty grout? Did you retile some years ago with beautiful tiles and you were sure they would make you happy for decades, but now the grout is so disgusting, you wish you could just sledgehammer the whole wall out and be done with it?

Tiling has been around, literally, for thousands of years. Beautiful mosaic tiles adorn the Middle East, Egypt, India and even Europe. Tiling is an art form that expresses color and emotion and lasts for eons, as long as it's cared for.

Simple bathroom tiles express a feeling of color and freshness, and also cleanliness that one expects in the restroom. They can be one solid consistent color, or they can be done in multiple colors and patterns that can jazz up any space. One thing is consistent in all tiles; they have to be adhered in some form of mortar or grout. They may be glued into place, but then, especially in a bathroom, they will have grout between them.

The moisture issues present in a bathroom or even a kitchen eventually lead to an ugly mess in your grout. There are moisture resistant grouts, but even those can only be expected to perform for so long.

Here is a simple inexpensive way to clean your grout. Mix 2 cups of baking soda, one cup of borax and one cup of hot water. Mix them thoroughly. Using a stiff brush, brush the mixture onto the grout. Rinse well with clear water. The mold and accumulation of scum should come right off! It's that easy!
