My Closet is a Mess... Staging Your Home

The last time you walked into your closet... what was the first thing that crossed your mind??

The closet is THE thing that will make women go gooey when they visit your house. It will help to sell that house too! It's a gal thing, but it has to look impressive.

1. Get rid of wire hangers. They are ugly and they don't do anything for the closet or your clothes! Instead invest in wood or plastic. If you go with plastic, you can color co-ordinate everything quite nicely. For example, all of your blouses could go on blue hangers. Helps to find the spot to hang items as well. The easier it is... the better.

2. Remove clothes that don't fit you any longer. Move them to a new closet  if they are too small,  or give them away if they are too big. You won't want to grow back into them.

3.Remove items off the shelves and replace them with fancy gift bags. That was my trick. My husband loved to use the shelves to throw his clothes onto instead of hanging them up. I didn't give him the space to do it. And the fancy bags looked nicer. Picked them up at the dollar store just in case you were wondering where you could pick them up and not break the bank. .

4. Shoes can make a closet really messy. Mine, I keep in boxes if they are used regularly. The remaining ones, I keep as neat as I possibly can. And really who needs 40 pairs of shoes on the floor of the closet and I was just reading that that number is how many the average woman owns.

5. Make it smell nice. That's what those little pomanders are for. Lavender smells nice!

6. Put items together... blouses in one section, skirts in another and trousers in yet another.etc. It makes the closet look tidie and it will take you less time to find what you are looking for.

7. Most closets come with one horizontal rail. It makes more sense to install another a few feet below to use for smaller items.  Not only can you stretch the size of your closet, but you can get twice as many items into the same closet with a lot less work. It's all about organization.

Hi HappyGoLucky,  I love this article, a number of easy and cheap ways to keep your closet neat and orderly.  I especially like the color coding with plastic hangers.  I am going to try that.
