How to Keep Kids Entertained at a Party

Kids always seem to have an endless amount of energy. Planning a great party for your kids and their little friends can be quite a challenge when you have to find a way to entertain and keep a dozen or more kids busy. But never fear, good ideas are here!

STEP 1: Have a themed party. If your kids are into dinosaurs host a big dinosaur-themed party. Have a sandbox filled with big fake dinosaur bones for the kids to dig up, decorate the place in the manner that a dinosaur would have lived in (with fake trees, a big cardboard cave or a tent to resemble a cave…etc.), and anything else that would apply. If your kids are into princess themes do the same thing… Have a cardboard or tent resembling a castle, have crowns and tiaras for the kids, etc. Have several different areas for the kids to play in so that they are continually on the move and running around. This will help wear them out!

STEP 2:  Turn on some music and dance. Have a mini dance floor set up with a few decorations, maybe a disco ball, and top it off with having a fake red velvet rope to go around the dance floor.

STEP 3: Go swimming. Make sure the parents are watching their kids though to ensure safety! You could put water toys and games in the pool for the kids to chase after and play with. Depending on the size of the pool there could be endless possibilities as to the types of games you could put together.

STEP 4: If you’re worried about all the kids in the water, instead set up a slip-n-slide or inflatable water ride for the kids to play on. Have the water hose set up to run into the ride so it keeps the kids cool. They will love being able to compete and race against each other on the slides!

STEP 5: Probably the best suggestion I’ve left for last. Plain and simple: Have a backyard carnival. Kids will absolutely love being in an atmosphere that reminds them of being at the fair. Set up several different cardboard booths with different activities at each. You could put together easy games and have small prizes or candy for them to win.
