Cats are such wonderful animals that most families adopt them as house pets. But do you know that there are cat's myths that for decades many have believed in. Read on to find the truth about these 10 cat's misconceptions.


Tale: People think that if you throw me up, I will always land on my feet. Who do you think I am, Super Cat?
Truth: By sheer instinct, a cat may fall feet first and may survive falls from high places.  However, cats may obtain broken bones in the process.

Tale: My Boss thinks that by giving me milk everyday will make me healthy.
Truth: Definitely, almost all cats like milk, but they can do without it if properly nourished. Another thing, cats need to worry about diarrhea if they will too much milk. If it is given at all, the amount should be moderated.

Tale: Garfield, Felix and Sylvester and other cat buddies think I’m stocky and overweight because I was spayed and neutered automatically.
Truth: Typically, cats that eat too much and lack exercise or both gain weight and not because of spaying or neutering. In many cases, these procedures are done at an age when the animal's metabolism already has slowed. If the cat continues to gain weight, owners can help their cats stay fit by providing exercise and not over-feeding.

Tale: People think I‘m rabies-free!
Truth: for a fact, majority of warm-blooded mammals such as dogs, cats, ferrets and bats  can carry rabies. Therefore, cats owners should see to it that their cats be regularly vaccinated according to local laws.

Tale: My stray cat buddies often tell me how lucky I am to be a house pet. They say, indoor cats cannot get diseases.
Truth: Definitely not, indoor cats still are exposed to organisms that are carried through the air. Not Even the most housebound cat are pared from contacting diseases and worms if ever he ventures outdoors and contact with other animals feces.

Tale: Boss says I will get tapeworms from eating bad food.
Truth: Cats can get infected with tape worms from swallowing fleas, which carry the parasite. Also, eating infected mice can expose cats to tapeworms.

Tale: My meal always include garlic because boss says it will get rid of worms.
Truth: Garlic may make the animal's food taste better but has no effect on worms. The most effective way to treat worms is by medication.  

Tale: Cat is a big No for pregnant women.  
Truth: A cat disease called toxoplasmosis can be transmitted to unborn babies through cat litter boxes and cause serious problems.  Nevertheless, these problems can be properly addressed and can be controlled, if the expectant mother avoids contact with the litter box.

Tale: We love our whiskers because it help us gain balance.
Truth: Cats’ whiskers are use as "feelers" and not for balancing.


Tale: By licking the affected spots, cats’ wounds heal faster.
Truth: Actually, such licking can further aggravate the wound and thus slows down the healing process.
