If you make separate index cards for each dinner you prepare for a few months, menu planning become a simple matter of pulling out the index cards for the number of meals that you will be shopping for.

Things You’ll Need:

Index cards
Organizational skills

Keep all sorts of menu on your computer that they can be accessed and printed whenever you are ready to shop. It really saves time to keep a master shopping checklist to print out which will remind you to check those things you usually forget.

Saving time by going to the store early Saturday morning before it becomes crowded or shop at any time you have noticed is unpopular at your store, such as during sports events or popular t.v. shows. Waiting in long lines at the check out counter is just one more tedious thing that can be avoided if you plan ahead.

When making a shopping list, place a "C" next to items that have a coupon to be redeemed, to make couponing easier.

*Useful tips:

Don't buy things for your home that you are not going to use in a normal week of eating. Try buying paper products at the Dollar discount store because they are the same and they cost a great deal less than buying them at a typical grocery store.

Eat less meat and more vegetables and grains because they are cheaper to buy and are better for you to eat!

Always include dark green leafy vegetables into you diet because they are cheaper to buy and they are healthier to eat as well.

When you are writing a menu up, be sure that you include items that are high in protien and low in fat for easier digestion for your family and stronger bone growth for small children.
