As you all know, I am not a doctor and I am not trying to give medical advice. This article is for individuals that are feeling in a down mood or experiencing mild forms of depression. If you are experiencing a stronger depression, please contact a doctor because they can help. Depression symptoms can vary with each individual, but if you are experiencing lack of appetite, no desire to see friend or loved ones, an inability to get anything done and the desire to not leave your home, you may be depressed.

For those of you who have read my other articles on self help and motivation, you know that I am a big fan of visualization. That's because it works. Carrying around bad feelings and thoughts in your head is not helpful and is actually harmful. Stress has been proven to be physically bad for human bodies. Don't allow yourself to stress or dwell on things that you have no control over. Use the techniques below when your mind is filled with negativity.

CHALKBOARD METHOD - Picture all your bad thoughts on a giant chalkboard in your head. See your hand holding a big eraser and erasing all of the information on the chalk board until it is blank. Every time those thoughts come back use this method again or try another method.

After you erase the bad thoughts from your mind, fill your mind with good thoughts or things that keep your mind occupied so that you do not slip back into the negative thoughts. It is also helpful to keep yourself physically busy. Being busy keeps you from dwelling on the negative.

Knowing how to fight depression with visualization will help you to enjoy life again.

SAND SIFTING - Imagine that you body is made of sand. Picture a giant sifter or butterfly net scooping up your entire body and sifting through it. All of the negative thoughts, pain and ailments are left in the sifter and your body reforms back into you.

Do not dwell on negativity, use the above methods over and over again throughout your day until you get into the habit of not keeping bad thoughts in your head.

Depression symptoms may seem similar to an illness or infection. If you are feeling bad physically and cannot seem to get better, your symptoms may be depression related.

If you want more information on how to fight depression with visualization please ask your doctor.
