When a Teenager Does NOT Drive You Crazy!
Having a teen driver in the house is not always a bad thing!
Some of you know I am a mom of a 16 year old. This can cause grief, but in the last 6 months since she has been driving it has been a life saver! Normally it seems parents are dreading that time when their teen gets their driver's license; the tense feeling you have wondering about insurance, how safe they will be, will they really look both directions at the intersection and will they really abide by the rule of NO talking on their cell phone when the engine is running. Well call me lucky, call me crazy, call me THANKFUL, call me "one more driver in the house to do errands". I AM IN HEAVEN!
Just like you I have an endless "to-do" list and now I can sit and pick the items that I can delegate to someone else. I love that I can ask someone else to go to the grocery store or even take one of the boys to soccer practice and I have an enthusiastic body ready and willing. When everyone is hungry and they are craving a midnight Taco Bell run.......now I am not the one that has to take them. I crawl in my jammies, snuggle up in my bed and ask them to bring me a Double Decker Taco.
I have found more time in my day with another driver in the house. I wonder, am I the only one that treasures this time? I cannot recall hearing other moms talk about this benefit, maybe it is that hidden secret they don't want anyone else to know about. I don't know, but I am spreading the word to you moms - this is the greatest time for me - it is almost as good as when your child reaches that magical age and you can leave them home alone. That feeling of FREEDOM - it is almost that good! So those of you who have a hard time seeing the light at the end of the tunnel some days......believe me when I say......you will get a reward!
