The spyware gets downloaded on the computer secretly, once one land on the hijacked websites. Spyware enters into the security settings to collect personal information, Internet behavior, passwords, and finally changes all the computer settings. Additionally, the spyware changes the online working behavior of the computer and installs unwanted programs to the system.

Spyware also make the existing programs to malfunction and it becomes difficult to differentiate unwanted programs from the other programs because all the programs have similar effects and characteristics on the affected computer.

Rogue antispyware attacks computer which is already been attacked by the spyware. These rogue antispyware behaves like a legitimate antispyware, but it functions in the same way as the spyware. Rogue antispyware are released by malicious programmers and it is widely distributed by banner ads on the web.  These fake antispyware is installed via a Trojan

How Fake Antispyware Programs Works

Advertising: Aggressive advertising is done either through websites that is visited by the users or directly popping up on the computer itself. These programs bombard the computer with popup claiming that the system is affected by the spyware and immediate protection needs to be done.

Silent Installation: By clicking the popup or in some cases even if it is not clicked, the rogue programs immediately start to install itself in the computer without the knowledge of the users.

Fake Scans: After installation, the rogue antispyware programs will be automatically configured to startup every time the system is booted and start windows to present the scanned result, so that it will look like a legitimate spyware scan to the user. But in reality, the entire thing is a spoof and all the scanned files are either fake files or windows files originally present in the system.

Purchase: If the user falls for these rogue programs and purchases the full version of the program, the only thing that will end up is that the computer becomes more vulnerable to many spyware programs without the consent of the user until the computer ceases to operate almost entirely.

Additionally, the rogue programs logs keystrokes, browsing behavior, and even take screenshots to send the information to the remote server so that a hacker can then use these data to gain access to credit cards, bank accounts, and finally steal the identity of the user.

If the computer is affected by the rogue programs, immediate actions need to be taken to remove the infection before compromising the financial or personal information. Even if the system is not affected by the programs, necessary steps needs to be taken to protect personal information and financial well being. Reputable and highly effective antispyware software that includes real time protection should be installed on the system.
