Fix that curling wallpaper seam once and for all with these easy DIY instructions.

Do you have a wallpaper seam or two that bugs you because it keeps curling up? It's an easy fix. A simple DIY project that you can do in less than 30 minutes and that curling wallpaper seam won't bug you again.

Wallpaper becomes detached and curls away from the wall for a variety of reasons, like water damage, room humidity or an overly hot room. Before reattaching the curled wallpaper seams(s), you will need to address any underlying home issues that causes the wallpaper to curl in the first place. If it's impossible to correct the problem in the room, for instance in an unventilated bathroom where moisture and heat are a constant, you may want to consider removing the wallpaper completely and just painting the wall.

If you can fix the underlying problem, do so first, then fix the curling wallpaper.

If you have the wallpaper's manufacturers instructions, read them to find out what type of wallpaper adhesive to use for reattachment. If you don't have the instructions, purchase an all purpose, lightweight vinyl wallpaper adhesive paste.

Prepare the loose wallpaper by moistening the underside of the loose edges with a warm, damp cloth. Next, brush a thin layer of the wallpaper adhesive onto the wallpaper and the wall. Leave it set, unattached for 15 minutes, then apply a second thin layer of the adhesive to the wallpaper only and allow it to set (unattached) until the adhesive becomes sticky. Lightly touch the adhesive on the wallpaper every few minutes to determine when it has reached the sticky point.

Press the wallpaper onto the wall using a steam roller. Start in the middle of the section of the wallpaper and press towards the seam.

When you have completed pressing the wallpaper, use a damp cloth to remove and excess wallpaper adhesive that has leaked through the wallpaper seam.
