A quick and easy Halloween Cake Idea that involves no baking, just decorating.

Make a Halloween Cake without baking.

While doing my normal Sunday Afternoon coupon Clipping, I ran across a Duncan Hines coupon with a picture of a cake on it. It was a Halloween cake, made to delight children or adults, and quite elegantly presented. It was not a jack-o-lantern, but a pumpkin.

I have, as usual, thought of the very fastest and cheapest method of doing this! Since I haven't bought the items to do my cake, I haven't got a picture. I didn't want to plagiarize with a copy of theirs, but you can probably find one in a magazine or coupon insert. I wanted to get the idea to you in time for Halloween parties, so here it is!

Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Store-bought cake with a hole in the center. You could basically use any kind on sale in the bakery-deli. It is better if it has some texture like it came from a bundt pan.
  • An ice cream cone, the plain, round cup kind, not sugar cone.
  • Icing: Vanilla
  • Food coloring: green and orange...(or red and yellow for orange)
  • If you could find orange and green icing, it would be a little faster. You just need a small amount of green.
  1. Step 1 Listen to a Seasoned wife and mother: Keep your mouth shut!

First of all, don't tell anyone what you are doing. Let them think whatever they want. Just Pull it out with a big VOILA! If you don't understand what I mean, just reference the "Rice Krispies Treats Commercial."

For you younger women, you must learn the most basic rules of good housekeeping: learn when to shut up!

  2. Step 2 Buy a bundt cake at a bakery-deli.

Buy a Cake, flavor doesn't matter. Get one with some texturing, if you can, so that it looks more like a pumpkin. See Picture.

  3. Step 3 Ice the Bundt cake with orange icing.

Ice the cake with orange icing. You can add red and yellow food coloring, but be sure it is not too runny. The cake I saw actually was kind of glazed with orange, so that it looked more like a real pumpkin.

  4. Step 4

Place an ice cream cone in the center of the cake, somewhat down in the hole a little. The open side is down.

  5. Step 5

Ice with green icing, making it look like a stem. If you are using one of those squeeze tubes for the green, you could add some vines, curling around.

  • Remember what I said, do not tell anyone how easy it was! Just say, "Thank You!"
