Homemade Tartar Sauce -

Here's a tartar sauce recipe that's very traditional.  If you want to learn to make homemade tartar sauce, you've come to the right place.  This is the way I was taught to make tartar sauce from my grandmother.  It's simple to make and very fast - you probably have the ingredients at home right now.

Tartar Sauce Recipe:

Traditional tartar sauce is only made of two ingredients - mayonnaise and pickle relish.  If you like a sweet tartar sauce, use sweet pickle relish.  If you want a more sour tartar sauce, then you would use dill pickle relish.

Put a couple of tablespoons of mayonnaise in a bowl (basically put in as much mayo as you want of tartar sauce as the mayo makes up the largest part of the recipe).  Add in a teaspoon of relish at a time and keep mixing.  Adding the relish makes the tartar sauce stronger, so just add relish until you are happy with the taste.  If you add too much relish, feel free to add a bit more mayo.  Basically you want to keep balancing the two ingredients until you are happy with the flavor and potency of the tartar sauce.  I use good quality mayonnaise for this tartar sauce recipe.

After you've mixed up the tartar sauce, put it into a pretty serving bowl.  You can serve this tartar sauce with broiled or fried fish, scallops, shrimp, crabmeat, or any seafood you like.  Enjoy this homemade tartar sauce recipe with your family and friends the next time you have seafood.
