Planning a wedding can be a stressful situation, especially if you are trying to stay on a budget.  One of the most important things you will want for your wedding is a dress, and choosing the right dress for you can be a task in itself.  If you are a bargain hunter you will be able to find that dress for less.

Wedding gowns are unique as it is one of the only clothing items that gets worn only once.  Therefore, you may be able to find a used wedding gown for the fraction of the original price.  If there happens to be a stain, you can have it laundered quite inexpensively to make it look new.

There are also a lot of bridal outlet stores which sell name brand dresses at a fraction of the price.  This will be your best option if you want a new dress but don’t want to pay full retail price.  They will also run sales frequently, so you will want to check periodically if the dress you want is on sale.

If you are planning to travel out of town for your wedding, consider wearing a bridesmaid dress.  They come in all colors, including white and ivory, and are a fraction of the price.  You will not have to lug a 100 pound dress around, and you will save yourself a lot of money.  If it is not fancy enough, you can embellish with an intricate veil or jewelry.

If you know someone who is quite crafty and creative, ask if you can work with them and create your own dress.  This can be time consuming, but you will have a one of a kind piece, at a fraction of the cost.  Most major fabric stores will have the materials to create a beautiful gown.

Just like a tux, there are also places in which you can rent bridal gowns.  To some women it is important to have their dress to keep for years, others it is not.  If it not important to you, consider renting your dress.  This will save you a ton of money.

Purchase inexpensive shoes to go with your dress.  They do not have to match exactly, and keep in mind your comfort as well.  You will be standing and walking quite a bit on your wedding day, you want to keep your feet happy.  They will appreciate it.

Purchase your veil at a local craft store.  What many people do not know is that craft stores will have a lot of wedding day supplies.  Check them out to save a lot of money.  Your wedding dress may be one of the most important things you select, but it doesn’t have to be the most expensive thing.
