You want to get some publicity, market your company and be known for your services or products you have as a business, then it is very important that you have your own website or Blog where people can read all about you, your expertise and achievements.

Nowadays it is very easy to set up a blog, there is a multitude of networks that offer free blog posting as Wordpress, Blogger by Google, or for a small monthly fee you will find others;

You can create as many websites or Blogs as you want, the point is to have time to write on all these sites and keep them updated with proper information.

You should then join some great professional networking groups such as LinkedIn, Plaxo, and some specific ones in your industry.

These are some important things to consider when you put your profile together.

Your profile must have a picture of you, I can not stress this enough, personally, I don't connect with many that don't have a picture!

If you are like me, self taught and your education history is not of a high degree, you might want to leave that out, or mention that you gained most of you experience by doing things and getting involved in projects to take them to completion.

The important part of your profile is your work experience. This is where you must be very upfront about yourself. I am saying that you should accentuate, stress this but making it believable!

Hobbies and interests. You should mention all the things you are passionate about. If someone is looking at your profile and teetering on the edge of contacting you and you happen to mention that you love certain type of music and so do they, then it could well determine them to connect and subscribe to your profile.

Location - Where you are based, will have something to do with how do you list your information- it is advisable to mention that you are local, in fact it is imperative, but if your product is for a world wide audience then I would not publish a location.

Your expertise. It is important that people see you are an expert and a leader but they must also see you as approachable and friendly.

Build some trust and rapport first and following all these important steps can give you a good start; you will make lots of friends that can become your customers.
