If you have asthma, it may be a good idea to find out what type of asthma you have because then you can determine the exact asthma attack cause for your attacks. Knowing the causes and triggers to your asthma attacks, you have more chance of avoiding them and controlling your condition. The type of asthma you have determines the exact triggers for your attacks. For example, if you have an allergy type of asthma, then it will be things like pollen and dust that will be the trigger for your attacks, but if you have exercise-induced asthma, long periods of great physical activity will be the main cause for your attacks.

There are certain triggers and asthma attack cause that are common with all types of asthma, not just specifics, and they generally consist of environmental things that we have very little control over. If you contract a viral infection, like a cold or flu, then you are at a higher risk of having an asthma attack. Again, out of our control is the weather, but extremities of weather. e.g. a particularly cold spell can trigger an asthma attack.

There are a few asthma attack causes that are out of our control but we can still avoid, and these are to do with the situations and the places we put ourselves in. Areas like big cities have higher pollution levels and these pollution dangers have been proved to increase the chances of a person having an asthma attack. Again, places with more pollen, small valleys etc. tend to put an increased risk of an attack on those that suffer from asthma.

Certain medications can be included in this asthma attack cause list, and with small children especially, these medications can cause allergies and trigger an asthma attack. Smoking is another thing that will make the risk bigger, so if you suffer from asthma, don't smoke! Or, be around anybody that is smoking!
