A star named after you AND Finished night

Two poems: one is a gift as described that is given. Another is the evening giving words.

"A star named after you"

For a special Christmas gift this year to you

I am watching the star shine brightly in the sky so blue.

Rather than giving you money to buy some worldly thing

This star will twinkle, shine brightly and then will bring

Smiles on people's faces around the universe you see

Giving happiness to many more than just you and me.

No I am not buying you a make believe steak in the sky

It is truly one I found as I looked up as night came by.

So very precious are you indeed, as you know

That is why I decided on this very special gift to show.

Not only will I think of you each and every night

But also when the stars are hidden by the daylight.

"Finished night"

The crescent glow emits such a gentle steam of magnificent light

Pierces through the pitch black sky of this December night.

Clouds can drift and cover the moon at times and never for long

So many poets and writers talk about it, as well as singers in a song.

Purposely sitting above, smiling as if he knows what is on our mind

The man in the moon watches, all night with the many stars intertwined.

Even the twinkling stars don't out shine this partial, orbital sphere

But if we watch, in the sky, long enough, it seems to travel so near.

Why does the moon only use the window and never uses the door?

It sits silently all night, then in the brisk morning dew it will soar.
