Plates, paint pens and kids is all you need to create this easy Holiday craft.

Painting plates is child's play, literally. This easy Holiday craft for kids provides double enjoyment, as a craft for kids and as a keepsake for your Holiday dinner guests.

With a minimal investment, this Holiday craft for kids can create a lifetime memory.

Materials needed for this Holiday kids craft:

Porcelain, ceramic or glass plates

A variety of paint pens

That's all you need, two items and a kid or two.

White, smooth surface plates work best for this kid's craft. If you're watching your budget (who isn't?) inexpensive plates can often be found at the Dollar Store. Wipe each plate with rubbing alcohol and allow to dry before painting.

Let the kids paint whatever they want too on the plates, even small kids can trace their hand on the plates and make a turkey for use at Thanksgiving or paint a Christmas tree for Christmas dinner. Write the name of a Holiday dinner guest on the front of each plate. Add the painter's name and date to the back of each plate.

Allow the painted plates to air dry for 24 hours, then place the painted plates in the oven in a single layer. Turn the oven on to 300 degrees and 'bake' for 35 minutes to set the paint and make the plates suitable for food.

When Holiday dinner time arrives, use the painted plates as dinner table place cards and as party favors for each dinner guest to take home with them.

For variations of this painted plated kids craft, use white coffee cups, saucers or dessert plates.
