Some would have you believe that you can make 100s of dollars every day through looking at a emails, or clicking links in emails, or viewing adverts through websites (most of these scams opperate along side each other). The truth is the income generated by viewing an email is worth about 0.005 cents, often less. You would have to look at over 200 emails to get any where near a dollar under even the most favourable conditions. Assuming 10 seconds per email, it would take you 33 minutes of constant work to get 1 dollar. An hour of work would earn less than 2 dollars. There are few people in the world who would work for 2 dollars an hour, are you one of them?
Of course most of the email scams do not have factual figures lying around so you can calculate the actual income you will be generating. They will claim that you earn 10 cents, 20 cents, or even a dollar per email. This scam works, because the money you are making in dollars is not real dollars but in tokens (like the kinds you get in arcades and in catalogs) that happen to be called dollars and have a $ sign. There the similarity ends. If you save up your “dollars” you'll find that in actual fact you can redeem your money for advertising through the same website for which you've been working. There will be convenient packages priced at hundreds and millions of 'dollars' for you to buy with all those 'dollars' you've been saving up. Try and redeem the token 'dollars' for real dollars however and the whole thing breaks down. Suddenly that 100 dollars you've saved up is worth about 20 cents, and even getting that paid to your paypal will be quite a feat. So next time you see something that claims you can make money from email, approach it with the skepticism it deserves.
