Tea Party Birthday Theme Ideas
Celebrate your daughter's next birthday with a tea party. Birthday party ideas for games, food and a tea party favor craft to make.
Once you have done all of the Princess and Barbie birthdays, your child may want to graduate to a classy tea party. Some countries have teatime everyday, but not in America. For whatever reason (Boston Tea Party) we threw off that tradition. But now your little girl might want to know what teatime or high tea is like.
This might be the first time many girls at the party will taste tea. You might want to serve a flavored decaffeinated tea. Have plenty of milk and sugar on hand so they can stir their teas and have the full experience. You can also have the little stirring spoon called a demi spoon, for them to stir up the tea.
You can have your little girls play dress up as a game or time killer. You might want to have them bring a dress up costume or you can provide them. You might also want to have some boa's and floppy hats and fake pearls or long necklaces. Then once every one has found the perfect dress they can play pass the teapot and then settle down for teatime.
Game – Pass the Teapot
Hot Teapot (Hot Potato) you can use a cloth teapot toy, or any teapot that won't break when dropped. Fill the teapot up with candy or small toys. Start some music and have the girls pass the teapot around. When the music stops the lucky duck holding the teapot gets to take out a piece of candy or toy. Start over again and try to make sure that each girl gets something from the teapot.
Party Favors – Tea Bags
This idea really helps to pull the whole tea party theme together. Turn small white paper bags (sold at most party or craft stores) into giant tea bag party favors by filling each one with costume jewelry, penny candy and anything else you or your daughter would like. Fold the upper corners of each bag toward the center, then fold down the top and staple a piece of string to it. Then staple a paper nametag to the end of the string. It will look just like a bag of tea only larger.
Food to Serve at Party
You can serve whatever you like but I have a few suggestions. There are many items you could serve at your tea party. Hopefully this short list will get your creative juices flowing.
Petit Fours - Instead of a cake, from your local bakery
Butterfly Sugar Cookies
Strawberry Tea
Scones with Clotted Cream
Finger Foods
Cucumber Sandwiches
Chocolate covered strawberries
Tea sized sandwiches - sandwich cut into fourths
What ever you decide to play, do and serve have fun with the tea theme. Let the birthday girl help you plan out the party, she will enjoy saying she helped. Good luck and have fun. I’m sure the party guests will have a great time at your little girl’s party.
