Cocktail Meatballs

A quick and easy appetizer for any get together!

I love passing trays or platters of snacks around at parties.  I am a particular fan of the hot appetizers.  This is a super-simple recipe for cocktail meatballs that are the perfect combination of hearty meatball with a sticky and sweet sauce / glaze.

What you will need for the meatballs:

One (1) can of evaporated milk (5 1/3 ounce can)

Two (2) Teaspoons of Worcestershire Sauce

One (1) Package of Instant Onion Soup Mix (I prefer the Lipton Recipe Secret Onion or the Beefy Onion with Mushroom - both work well)

One (1) pound (1 lb.) of lean ground beef (90% works best)

For the sauce / glaze you will need:

Two (2) Cups of Ketchup

One (1) Cup of Brown Sugar (dark or light - which ever you prefer or have on hand)

One (1) Tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce

Preheat  your oven to broil.  In a bowl, combine the evaporated milk and the two (2) tablespoons of Worcestershire Sauce.  Let stand for five (5) minutes.  Next, add the lean ground beef and the instant onion soup mix.  Mix well so that the instant soup is not clumped anywhere throughout the meat.  Form the meat mixture in to one (1) tablespoon sized meatballs.  Place on a shallow baking dish that has been lightly sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.

Place under the broiler (about four inches below the coil) and cook for ten to twenty (10-20) minutes.  DO NOT TURN!

In a small saucepan on the stove top, combine your sauce ingredients of Ketchup, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce and whisk together and cook on medium to medium high heat for ten minutes, stirring frequently.  Once the meatballs are done, pour the sauce / glaze over the meatballs and serve.

You can place these on a platter with decorative toothpicks or in a bowl - whatever your occassion calls for.  Enjoy!
