Spaghetti with meat sauce is a wonderful family meal since it's easy to make and it's perfect for the family budget since it doesn't cost too much to make. The problem with many recipes though is that the sauce is too thin and not very tasteful. Below is my recipe for making a tasteful and hearty Spaghetti Meat Sauce.

Ingredients for Spaghetti Meat Sauce:

3/4 pound of ground beef
1/2 pound of Italian Sausage
1 onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
3 or 4 fresh mushrooms, sliced
4 to 6 ounces of sliced black olives
Two 14 ounce cans of Italian diced tomatoes
One 14 ounce can of tomato sauce
One 6 ounce can of tomato paste
1/4 cup of beef broth
1/4 cup of a decent red wine
1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon of ground oregano
1 teaspoon of ground basil
1 teaspoon of garlic powder (a clove of crushed garlic would be best)
1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
1 teaspoon of sugar
1 pound of good Spaghetti Pasta

Step 1:

Place the ground beef, Italian Sausage and diced onion in a large skillet and brown the meat. After the meat has browned you will want to add to the skillet the green bell pepper, sliced mushrooms, black olives, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, beef broth, red wine and all of the above seasonings. You will then need to bring the sauce to a slight boil and then reduce the heat and let the sauce simmer for about 4 hours until the sauce has thickened. You may need to add additional liquid such as tomato sauce or wine while the sauce cooks if the sauce cooks down too much.  Make certain that you stir the sauce once in a while as it cooks to prevent burning.

Step 2:

When the sauce has finished cooking you will now need to cook the pasta. I prefer to use a thin spaghetti for my pasta with this dish. You will want to fill a large pot with water and then add a little Olive Oil to the water and cook the pasta according to the package directions. When the pasta has finished cooking do not rinse the pasta since the starch on the pasta will help the sauce stick to it.

Step 3:

Now place some pasta on a plate and pour your sauce over the pasta and enjoy your spaghetti dinner with a nice glass of red wine.  I suggest that you sprinkle some fresh parmesan cheese on top of the spaghetti and meat sauce,

Wow, what a great recipe. I haven't had much luck with making a good spaghetti sauce, so I will give this one a try. Thanks!
