There are certain facts about vampires that most people know like their dislike of garlic and their sensitivity to sunlight. So garlic is used to ward off vampires but are there other facts about vampires that you must know if you want to kill one?

The facts about vampires in this article are what are widely known about vampires in legends and stories. This doesn't mean that vampires live among us. These facts are here just for entertainment purposes.

Facts about how to repel a vampire

  1. Everyone knows how vampires hate garlic. So wear a garlic necklace and decorate your house with garlic strings to ward off vampires. They hate garlic more than they need to suck your blood.
  2. It seems that vampires used to be Christians before they turned into the living dead so a crucifix would really frightened them.
  3. Vampires are also known to be repelled by salt.
  4. Holy water can also be used to repel vampires as they burn at the touch of holy water. This is also related to fact number 2 above about the probability that vampires could be Christians.

Facts about vampires that can kill them

  1. A vampire can be killed by running a wooden stake through its heart. It has to be a wooden stake maybe because wood is from nature and so when one runs a wooden stake through a vampire's heart, one is essentially sending him back to nature.
  2. When exposed to sunlight, a vampire would immediately sizzle and burn to death. This is why vampires don't walk in daylight.
  3. When a vampires's head is separated from its body, that is a sure death for the vampire.

Other facts about vampires that you need to know

  1. Apparently, vampires cannot cross running water like a stream.
  2. A vampire also cannot enter a person's house uninvited by the owner of the house. So make sure you don't unwittingly invite one in. A vampire can be charming so be careful of any charming strangers knocking at your door.
  3. Burying their corpse at a four-way crossroad would also ensure that they won't leave their coffin.

Vampires are mythical creatures created by imaginative writers and have been portrayed countless times on television and in movies and it seems that these creatures have been evolving to such an extent that some of the above facts about vampires may not apply to these new species. But the above are the basic facts about vampires that are known through books and legends.
