Many Americans have been caught up in drug addiction. Being addicted to drugs can ruin your body physically, destroy your mind, crush your family, take away your job and leave you penniless. Don't let this happen to you. If it has already happened, you can change it, only you have the power to turn your life around. We have all heard the amazing success stories of drug addicts changing their lives dramatically and becoming the people they want to be. These rags to riches stories can happen and it will happen to you if you want it to.

HAVE THE DESIRE TO CHANGE - The first thing that you need to do is have the desire to change. If you don't think that you are at that point, you may want to try it anyway. Once you get started and life starts to look better it may create more of a desire to change. Look around you at all the things that you are missing out on. Good friends, good family, enjoying the finer things in life and feeling good.

SEEK HELP FOR FREE - There are many programs available for people with drug addictions. Narcotics anonymous is everywhere even in foreign countries. You can find a meeting just about any where at any time.

CHECK INTO A PROGRAM - There are many programs that specialize in drug addictions. They may be costly but they do help a lot of people. I know you can do it without a costly program, but if you can afford one, why not give it a try.

JUST DON'T DO IT - If you lived on an island where drugs did not exist, then you would not be able to do them. Pretend that you are on your own private island. Do not do drugs anymore because you cannot do them. Do not make them available for yourself to do.

FIND NEW FRIENDS - Completely cut off all of your so called friends that do drugs. There is not one of them that cannot be replaced by a good friend. Make new friends by joining groups such as bible study groups at your church, book reading groups, biking groups, etc.

DON'T DWELL - Avoid the turmoil of your past. Don't rehash it with everyone you meet. This will continually bring you back to that negativity. Keep it positive and move forward.

GET RIGHT BACK ON THE WAGON - If you fall off of the wagon and use drugs, just keep moving forward. Don't do it again, but don't beat yourself up for it either.
