check out this simple guide for making toilet bowl cleaner with inexpensive and natural ingredients.

The high cost of commercial cleaning products is an expense that most people live with because they do not realize that there are inexpensive alternatives. Making your own cleaning supplies with commonly found ingredients is an inexpensive alternative to paying high prices for chemical and toxin laden commercial blends. One cleaning product that is very easy and inexpensive to make is toilet cleaner. The following recipe for toilet cleaner requires few ingredients and almost no tools. It is also free of the often caustic chemicals, that can irritate your sinuses and skin, that are usually found in commercial toil cleaner formulations. You will need the following tools and implements to make this recipe: a measuring cup; large wooden or plastic mixing spoon; mixing bowl large enough to hold 5 cups of liquid and a plastic bottle with a tight fitting lid. You will also need the following ingredients to make the toilet cleaner: 2 cups water; 2 cups white vinegar (only use white do not use apple cider or other flavored vinegar); 1 cup hydrogen peroxide (the kind that comes in a brown bottle and is commonly found in first aid kits); 2 1/2 cups baking soda (generic brand baking soda will work just as well as name brand). You can also add 20 to 30 drops of a naturally antiseptic oil such as lemon, lavender, orange or grapefruit to add a pleasant scent to the blend and to boost the toilet cleaner's disinfecting power. Begin making this recipe by combining the water, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide in the mixing bowl and stir it well with the wooden or plastic spoon. If you choose to use essential oil, add it at this time and then stir the blend again. Once the blend is thoroughly mixed pour it into the plastic bottle to store it and replace the lid. You may have noticed that I did not have you add the baking soda yet. This is because the baking soda will react with the vinegar and peroxide causing a great deal of fizzing. This fizzing reaction will help you clean the toilet so I suggest you add it as you are cleaning. Baking soda is also naturally abrasive, adding it last will ensure some of it is un-dissolved giving you more scrubbing power. To use the completed toilet cleaner add 1/2 to 3/4 cups of the solution to the toilet and allow it to set for a few minutes. After it has set use a toilet brush to scrub the toilet. Next add 1/2 cup of baking soda to the toilet making sure to sprinkle some on the parts of the toilet bowl not submerged in water. Once you add the baking soda it will begin reacting, scrub the toilet with the brush while the baking soda is still fizzing. After scrubbing the bowl thoroughly, flush the toilet. it should be clean and fresh smelling; if your toilet bowl is particularly dirty then you may have to use the toilet cleaner twice.
