Back in the old days, people did not have the means and the money to make fancy Halloween costumes, yet somehow they were able to have immense amount of fun and laughter. To have fun, you do not need an expensive costume; all you need is your imagination and the friends to share it with.

This year homemade Halloween costumes are without any doubt on the most wanted list. There are two prominent reasons for this. The crises, not everyone will be able to afford a new Halloween costume, and the other reason, is that only homemade Halloween costumes are the most creative, and most definitely unique.

Homemade costumes are easy to make, you do not need some special material, and the fun part is, that you can find everything you need at home, and make something new, and exciting from a scratch. The things you do need, most of the time is some old fabric, some old clothes that you don’t want to or can’t wear, paint and most importantly cardboard box. With this, you can make some cool and fun Halloween costumes.

Usually with a cardboard box, you can make a costume imitating almost anything that can be found in a box. Let you imagination wild, search for similar things in your home, the ones you think are funny, and then just paint the cardboard, glue some parts from the box, add content from the original box and you’re done. Sure, it needs a bit more work if you want to make it as believable as possible, but the important thing is that it can be done. The most simple and still unique example can be a Rubik cube, very easy to make and original. If you are going as a couple, the pair of dices is also a fun idea, and it is simple to make.

You can make a witch costume all by yourself, all you need is some old black clothes, try to tear it up at its end, take a broom, and make a hat, again out of the items you can find in your home. This is how you can make a hat. Take some old hat, possibly the one you don’t need any more , take some black material, cover the hat with the material, creating a spike at the end. Very easy, and fun, and if you have a black cat, then you’re all set.

Mummy or a ghost is one of the easiest Halloween costumes, but you can make them unique and fun with just a little touch of your imagination. Take a sheet, usually  all the material you need to make a ghost, but this time why not give your ghost a face, choose a profession, paint whatever you deem funny and just put the sheet on. Casper is not the only ghost that exists; your ghost can be a ballerina, a doctor or even a clown.

Finally, the all time favorite homemade Halloween costume is... wait for the drums, a Bag of Jelly Beans. You need a big plastic bag, cut some holes for your feet and legs, and start placing the balloons inside, if you have colored balloons, even better.  For the finish, it would be nice to have someone help you, because it would be highly difficult to close the bag on your own, with all the balloons inside. When your friend has finished with tying up the bag, you’re all done.

By making your own homemade Halloween costume, you are preserving a true Halloween spirit.  Back in the old days, people did not have the means and the money to make fancy Halloween costumes, yet somehow they were able to have immense amount of fun and laughter. To have fun, you do not need an expensive costume; all you need is your imagination and the friends to share it with.

Happy Halloween…
