Roman Polansky and a few questions

The recent arrest of the veteran French-Polish film-maker Roman Polanski in Switzerland on an American arrest warrant because of his 32 years old conviction for sex with Samantha Geimer when she was only 13 has prompted us to consider a few things which I should submit in the following lines.

There is no doubt that Roman Polanski has been a great film-maker and many of my friends have been amazed at watching his movie ‘The Pianist’. He was awarded the prestigious Oscar for the movie.

He is at present 77 and in 1977 he was 45. He was privileged with the education of the acknowledged standard which he had received. It is strange that he could not restrict himself despite being a man of judgment. There is no reason to accept that he could not estimate the meaning of having sex with a child of 13.

Samantha Geimer has definitely had undesirable experiences all through her life because of such a stain. Still she has fought a brave fight against such a person of the class and has finally secured judgment of a form to her satisfaction. It is in the news that compensation is of an amount of $500,000.

Judiciary of the day has played a necessary role and people are expected to be cautious to take the right decision on the identical situation.

Sad we are when reports of rampant molestion and rape of women in the third world or developing countries appear in the printing media almost everyday. Sad it is more as the hapless women do not get a single cent as compensation as they are not in a state to go to the court of law and as they are rarely been assisted by us or by the government.

Roman Polanski should face justice.  He’s had over three years of freedom.
