This article will tell you how to make a quick and easy carp bait using instant grits.

a carp Things You'll Need:
  • 1 lb box of instant grits
  • 1 can of cream style corn
  • 1 box of Jello or a packet of Kool Aid (flavor of your choice)
  • a bucket with a lid
  • a can opener
  • a small bowl
  • some water
  1. Step 1 box of instant grits

First, open your box of instant grits and pour them into the bucket.

  2. Step 2 box of jello

Next, open your box of Jello or Kool Aid and pour it in the bucket over the grits. If you are using Jello, use 1 box and if using Kool Aid, you should use 2 packs.

  3. Step 3 can of cream style corn

Next, get the can opener and open the can of cream style corn and pour about 1/4 of it in the bucket and stir it around with your hand. Be sure and stir it up well so there are no clumps. Then, add a little more corn and stir again. Repeat this process until there are no dry grits in the bucket and the bait begins to take on a spongy appearance.

  4. Step 4

Next, get a bowl and fill it 1/2 full with water, enough to submerge a dough ball in.

  5. Step 5

Then, get out about a fist full of the dough and pack into a small ball shape with your hands. Pack it tight and drop it into the water. If your bait is right, it should break apart in the water in about 3-5 minutes. If it doesn't break apart, it's too wet and you need to add a little more grits to it and stir. Then, check it again and repeat this process until it breaks apart.

  6. Step 6 put the lid tightly on the bucket

Once your dough ball breaks apart properly in the bowl of water, put the lid on the bucket and close tight. Keep the lid on until you are ready to use. This bait needs to be made up when you're going to use it because it won't keep for days and isn't reusable after the first day it's made.

  7. Step 7 put a couple of corn pops on your hook when ready to fish

When you get ready to use it, put a couple of corn pops on your hook and get out about a fist full of the dough and put your hook in the middle of it and form a ball around the hook. Pack tightly and cast into the pond, lake, or river and get ready to catch some carp. That's all there is to it. Enjoy!
