For Halloween –Ghosts - Do You Believe ?

For centuries, ghost stories have been told.  Famous ghost pictures such as the ‘The Brown Lady’ coming down a staircase in 1936, a 1959 photo taken at a cemetery that shows a woman’s dead mother in the back seat of her car, and a 1966 picture of the Tulip staircase with a ghostly robed figure clutching to it are among the most popular searched on the internet.  Despite thousands of first account stories of visitors from the afterlife, many people still do not believe in ghosts.

 If ghosts do exist in our dimension, what are they doing here?  There are many theories as to why ghosts would return to or remain on the earthly plane after having died.  First of all, they may be upset about their passing – which would be pretty likely.  Another theory is that they do not know they have died so they are staying to live their lives.  Perhaps they are held to the earth by their grieving relatives whose anguish is hard to bear.  Some ghosts may stick around because they really liked their house, place of business, boat, etc. and just don’t want to leave. 

 Another idea is that ghosts are as curious about us as we are about them so they are popping in to see what’s going on.  Additionally, some people believe that several dimensions or worlds are all going on at the same time, but in different dimensions.  When ghosts show up in our world, these dimensions have overlapped.

 With television series like Ghost Hunters becoming popular, interest in ghosts, haunted houses, etc. has peaked.  Technological advances are available that allow for the possible recording of heat signatures and electronic voice phenomenon.  Pretty much everyone has a phone/camera on them at all times, so the collection of ghost pictures will likely increase.  It is quite possible that we are on the cusp of finding out whether visitors from beyond walk amongst us.
