Natural remedies for bloating

Bloating is caused by a build up of gas or fluid in the abdomen region. It makes the sufferer feel like they have a swollen stomach, and in some instances can be quite painful. There are several natural remedies that can help relieve the discomfort of bloating.

Bloating occurs due to many reasons, some of the most common include; food intolerance or allergy, constipation, the female menstrual cycle, irritable bowel syndrome and simply overeating. Therefore, in many cases the lifestyle you lead has a large influence on the occurrence of bloating.

So for starters, it is beneficial to eat a well balanced diet, steer clear of sodas and foods that are difficult for the body to digest and get regular exercise.

When you are experiencing an attack of bloat the following natural remedies may help bring relief:

Fennel Tea or capsules

Fennel is a natural ingredient that possesses digestive properties. Many people find that it relieves the symptoms of cramps and gas associated with bloating. It is a very popular natural remedy for both bloating and indigestion.

Tumeric

Practitioners of Chinese medicine and Ayurveda have been using tumeric to assist with digestive difficulties for many years. Initial scientific studies have shown that the use of tumeric can help relieve gas and bloating. Tumeric can be purchased as a powder that you can add to food or drink or in capsule form.

Apple Cider vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar is another natural product that aids digestion and helps the body flush out waste. Try adding a teaspoon or two of Apple Cider vinegar to a large glass of water. You can try adding a little honey to sweeten this mix if desired. If you regularly suffer from bloating, you can consume this shortly before eating to help aid the digestive processes.

Take a detoxifying bath

A bath can help the body to eliminate toxins, which improves the digestion process. There are several essential oils that aid detoxification. Consider adding a few drops of lavender, rosemary, tea tree or thyme to your bath water. Some people may find that the essential oil droplets will sting when added straight, so you might like to combine them them with a small quantity of bi carbonate of soda and water before adding to the bath water.

Ginger is another tea that can help soothe bloating, because it has a warming effect on the digestive system. The warming effect encourages the production of digestive enzymes. Stretch

You can help your body with some gentle movement. Lie down and bring your knees to your chest. This can help relieve bloating that is caused by a sluggish system.

 If you experience severe or persistent bloating with no apparent cause, it is best to seek medical advice. In some instances it can be caused by cancer, colon trouble, a parasite attack, or some other disease or condition.
