Making Your Child's Birthday the Best on the Street

When children are invited to multiple parties, it's easy to be the same old, same old. Lets make your child's birthday stand out.

1. Make giant footsteps and tape them to the fence if you happen to live on a corner. It points the way to the party. I did this once and the kids loved it. If you don't have a fence line, you could use the sidewalk. You could tape the giant footsteps or you could get artistic with some sidewalk chalk!

2. Decide on how much time the birthday party will last and then block out activities to fill that amount of time. I did this with a group of eight  year old girls and there was never a lull when boredom was able to set in. Everyone, including my daughter had a great time.

3. Here is something that will take your party up to the next level. Serve 7 Up topped with a huge chunk of candy floss floating on top. Instruct the little girls to stir the candy floss into the drink and then watch the 7Up turn the prettiest shade of pink! Not sure if little boys would enjoy this as much as little girls lol...

4. Carefully think about the goodie bags that you want to hand out. How can yours be a little different?

5. My nephew was born in January, which must be the worst possible time to be born when it comes to birthdays, but my sister had a great idea. Adam had a birthday party six months after his official birthday and she called it his " half birthday" and everything was done in just that... halves. Half the room was decorated, he had half a birthday cake, half the number of candles etc. If I'm not mistaken, even the hot dogs were served in halves.
