When to Wear Brown

Knowing when to wear a certain color to your advantage can have some very good results as when knowing when not to wear certain colors will too.   All colors have positive attributes and negative ones as well.  Using them to your advantage can help you better achieve your goals in life. This guide will help you choose good and bad times to wear brown and tones that are similar.  The colors included in this article are light golden browns, like honey to darker chocolate and cocoa brown tones.  Taupe tones are included but not cream or ivory hues.  These colors are more suited to white tones.

Each color has its positive attributes; brown toned clothing can have a welcome and homey type of feel to them.  They are very earthy and remind us all of a mothering type of character.  I suggest that you wear brown toned clothing when you need people to open up to you.  Brown hues help people to trust a little easier.  I also recommend that you wear brown toned clothing when you are entertaining guests in your home.  It will help create the effect of feeling as though they were at home and safe.  It will also help make conversation a little easier to start and carry on.  It is a good idea to wear brown clothing when you will be socializing with other parents such as when attending a school function.  It is a very non-threatening and inviting color to see and can help you through the time successfully. 

Unfortunately each color has its negative attributes as well.  Brown toned clothing can make you appear to be a safe and boring person.  The feeling of safety is great when it is needed but it is not always the look you are going for.  Avoid wearing brown if you need to be noticed or if you need to be seen as spontaneous or lively.  Do not wear brown when you are meeting with your friends outside of your home or when you are going out for the evening.  The color is not right for these situations and may make you look bored or worse, boring.  Brown is not one the best color choices when you are attending a business function.  Being homey is not generally a respected quality in business, stick with black for these functions.  Avoid wearing too much brown when out on a date.  You don’t want to appear motherly at these times.
