There are an abundance of vampire books readily available since the premiere of the television show, True Blood and the movie Twilight. Everywhere I turn there’s another series of these kinds of books. I happen to love vampire books, so these are the ones I have read and would recommend.

1.  The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer

This series is very good and I would recommend it for tweens and up.
The story revolves around a girl who moves to the small town of Forks and falls in love with a vampire.

2. The House of Night Series by P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast

This is also a good series.  The books do have some sexuality in them, so I would recommend not letting your 11-14 year olds read them by themselves.
The story is about a girl who is marked to become a vampire.  Her life is totally turned around and she must move into the House of Night.  There, she meets new friends and starts her new life.

3.  The Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris (True Blood was based on these books)

This is an excellent series.  I would highly recommend reading these.  They aren’t for kids though.
Sookie Stackhouse is a barmaid from Louisiana that can read minds.  She meets and falls in love with a vampire named Bill, and her life as she knows it ends.  These books are romantic, funny, action packed thrillers that you will love.

4. The Dark Hunter Series by Sherrylyn Kenyon

These books are awesome.  I read them over and over.  They are definitely adult only.
Each book is about a different character in the story, but you all of their lives intertwine.  Dark Hunters are men and women that had horrible deaths and when they died they cried out to the goddess Artemis to help them seek revenge on their killers.  They were granted their revenge, but were then made to spend the rest of eternity as Dark Hunters- immortal beings with characteristics like vampires who hunt and kill daimons, which are soul-sucking vampires.

5.  The Night World Series by L. J. Smith

This series was good.  Tweens and Teens would have no trouble with these books, and adults would enjoy them as well.
Each book is about a different character, but all of their lives intertwine in some way.  The books combine vampires, shape shifters, werewolves, and witches with lots of action and love.

6.  The Vampire Academy Series by Richelle Mead

I have read three of these books so far.  I absolutely love them.  I recently wrote a review about them on Triond.
