Seattle And New York City Have Tagged Their Garbage To See Where It Ends Up!

We all get excited over different things.

But garbage?

The Cities of Seattle and New York City have joined with MIT to see where our garbage goes!

I thought it was going to the garbage dump!

This is a high tech study whereby selected pieces of garbage are tagged electronically.

The garbage can then be tracked like a cell phone....on cell phone towers!

Isn't that exciting?

I'm almost wetting my trousers I'm so excited! Whoopee!!

People can actually observe online where their tagged garbage is at any given moment.

Oh boy! Maybe while I'm eating my breakfast I can find out where my coffee can is!

I'm sooooooooo excited!

They say the study will help figure out the effectiveness of the present waste system.

Around 3,000 pieces have been tagged.

They say we can change the way we think if we know where our garbage ends up.

I'm going to be sooooooo upset if I find out that my coffee can was plucked up by someone

and is now storing marbles in someone's home!

Get my crying towel! Boo hoo! Boo hoo!

Or what if my coffee can ends up in Japan?

What? Now how did that happen?

Did some dastardly guy make a profit on my coffee can by selling it to Japan?

I want my money! I want my share! Even though I gave it away I want my money!

Send me one dollar, please, for my coffee can!

Now we all know there aren't many landfills in Seattle or New York City. So what are they

doing with the present garbage?

The Seattle garbage is being shipped to Oregon to some landfill there. And who knows what

New York City does. Doesn't it end up on a barge to nowhere? I think that's it!

And is the Oregon landfill selling it to Japan? Is that why my coffee can ended up there?

Ha!

Maybe Japan could sell it for a profit to another country! I mean, after all, everyone has to

make a little money!

And no doubt lots of foreigners would LOVE to have a little good old American trash!

Now listen to this....no one has probably thought of this...(and what about you, MIT? You

have all the brains and haven't thought of this?)

The electronic tags are probably expensive. Right? At least they cost something. Are they

going to let this money go down the drain, so to speak?

Without trying to reclaim them? Undoubedtly they could be reused!

Is that being green? By letting them get covered up and gone forever?

No one has thought about that! What are you people....crazy?

So here's what needs to be done:

We need to reuse those tags!

"Psst...hey buddy...want to buy a recycled garbage tag? Cheap...real cheap!"

I mean, after all, at least we could sell them to the little kids in Tijuana who have nothing to

sell but chicklets!

With employment problems here in the U.S., someone here would buy them!

They could sell them at all of the pet stores!

"Psst....hey buddy...want to know where your pet is at all times? Just attach this tag!

It's cheap....real cheap!"

Now isn't that the American way?

We need to reuse those tags!

So start recruiting a volunteer force to do it NOW!

Before more garbage is piled on top!
