This article will tell you how to replace the tip on a pool cue. Its a relatively easy process.

Things You'll Need:
  • pool cue
  • pool cue tips
  • Duro super glue
  • a knife or razor blade
  • medium grit sandpaper
  1. Step 1

Take your pool cue in hand and with the knife, cut the old tip off where it meets the ferrule.

  2. Step 2

Once the old tip has been removed, take a small piece of sandpaper and lightly sand the ferrule until it is free of any old glue or remains from the old tip.

  3. Step 3

Now, get out your new tip and place it on the ferrule and make sure it lines up evenly with no gaps or spaces between the ferrule and the bottom of the tip. It should be a flush fit. If it is not, very lightly sand the ferrule until it is.

  4. Step 4

Then, get your Duro super glue and put a couple of drops on the end of the ferrule and then place the new tip onto the ferrule and press down. Make sure and wipe away any excess glue immediately and again, make sure the ferrule and tip are lined up flush all the way around with no gaps or over lapping.

You can buy a pool cue tip holder that attaches to the cue itself and holds new tips in place if you want. They are pretty inexpensive and work well, or you can just hold it in place yourself.

  5. Step 5

The glue will set up fast but you should hold the tip in place securely for about 2 minutes. After that, it should be dry enough that you can lay down.

  6. Step 6

I would give it about 30 minutes to dry really good and then take your sandpaper and round the tip up and scuff it up on the end to hold chalk. That's all there is to it. Your pool cue is now ready to play with again.
