A Hundred-fold

God can never be outdone in His generosity. He grants us a hundred-fold in return.

While studying in college, a beggar once came to our boarding house to ask for help. He needed three pesos for his bus fare going back to the place where he used to sleep. The monthly allowance I received from my parents was almost spent, I only had ten pesos remaining in my wallet. But out of compassion, though with a heavy heart, I gave him the three pesos.

Around seven in the evening, my uncle came to visit me to say hello. We had a good chat and afterwards he told me he was going home. But on his way out of the house he gave me an envelope. I felt nervous what could be inside. When I went my back to my room I checked what my uncle gave me. Guess what? Inside the envelope were three pieces of 100-peso bill. Immediately I thought about the three pesos I gave to the beggar earlier. But I sighed with regret and said to myself: "I should given him all the ten pesos I had, so I would have received a thousand!"

God can never be outdone in His generosity. He grants us a hundred-fold in return.I believe many will agree that the more generous we are to others the more blessings will rain on us. As Jesus says, "In fact, everyone who has left his homes, brothers, sisters, father, mother, children, or fields because of my name will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life." (Matthew 19:29).

A very good story worth reflecting on the way i treat beggars who knock at my door. Thank you for reminding me the wonders of being generous.
