Why do celebrities want to name their offspring after fruit? Well, here's what I think.

At first, when celebs starting naming their children odd and unusual names, I thought, "How refreshing!" I mean Mary, John and Michael are all fine names, but we've heard them before. But then things started getting a little out of hand. Case in point...Bronx Mowgli. Seriously?

What was once a unique idea has turned into a trendy, obnoxious phenomenom that has no end in sight. I think celebrities name their kids crazy names because they can. Whose going to challenge them? And why should their extremely special child have a common moniker?

But is anyone thinking of the children? Like Whitney once said, "I believe the children are the future". And what a future indeed. These poor, I mean, rich youngsters who will have to grow up and answer to their kooky names for the rest of their lives. They may want to be in show business where a name like Dweezil would actually help in a career. But maybe, just maybe, the child wants to be an accountant! Or a judge. Can you imagine? "Judge Zuma Rossdale presiding, all rise." That's just wrong.

I have an idea. Let's wait out this insane name craze just in case the end is near after all. Then maybe the celebrities will bring it to such an extreme that it has no way to go but the opposite direction. The new trend could be celebs clamouring to name their babies the most plain, normal names in the baby book. Jane, you just might be the first name of famous kids sooner than you think.
