Are you looking for your Mr. Right? Read on for my top tips for attracting men...

So you want a man, or to attract many men to open up your options. Getting the attention of men comes naturally for some women, but others need a bit of advice to even the playing field. I've had problems in my life, but I've never had trouble attracting men. I think it may come naturally to me - my mother and grandmother never had any trouble with men, either (at least not attracting them).

Anyway, here are some observations I've made over the last twenty years (and some of this I heard from my husband).

Here are some generalities (they do not apply to all men, but to many).

What men are attracted to:

Long hair (soft and silky, clean and brushed). I think men like straight hair, also. You can buy a straightener to make your hair very smooth and polished-looking. Many men have told me they don't like permed hair.

Blonds (if you're not blond, get a few highlights. It makes a difference). I've noticed a definite increase in attention after getting my hair highlighted.

Nice teeth (if they're not white, buy some whitener at the drug store).
Once a boyfriend told me, "I don't care what a woman's teeth look like as long as they're white". Enough said.

Make-up - a little can make the difference between Plain Jane and a pulled-together look. You should at least consider evening out your skin tone with mineral powder make-up. It's very fast and easy - it also looks great. It's just powder that you sweep on your face with a brush that comes with it. You can buy this at the drug store or department store. A little blush, a tinted lip gloss, and some mascara make a HUGE difference.

Skirts/Dresses (knee length or one or two inches above the knee). In many places in the US, men have not seen a woman in a skirt or dress for twenty years. If you wear one, you may cause traffic accidents. Now that's attention.

Heels (dainty, pretty ones - not ones that are heavy and look like horse hooves). Men like heels (even when they say they don't). It makes the calves and ankles look better, it improves a woman's posture, and makes you taller. I saw a program on TV that said men are attracted to women in heels because they look wobbly, precarious, and vulnerable (like prey). Heels bring out the hunter in them. Interesting theory, I guess. Whatever the reason, wear heels.

Manicures/Pedicures - again, men will say they don't care, don't like nail polish, blah blah. What men like and what they will admit to liking are too entirely different things. Believe me, I share my life with one such person who will remain anonymous. Anyway, for a woman to look polished and pretty, she needs nice nails and toenails. Especially in the summer.

Eyebrows are very important - they either make you look like a bushman or a cover girl. If you're not used to doing it yourself, go to a salon and have them waxed or tweezed professionally. You won't believe the difference.

Be clean and freshly showered - this one seems obvious, but as someone who often steps out with damp hair (I've only used a hair dryer on a couple of occasions), I've noticed that men pay a lot of attention to a woman with semi-damp hair. I'm guessing they're thinking about the shower the woman just took.

Moisturize - generously lather on that lotion after your shower so your skin is nice and soft and touchable. There's nothing worse than caressing dry skin. Remember to do your hands and feet, too.

Shave your legs and under your arms (especially if you're going out or will be wearing a skirt/dress (see above)). Men like smooth legs (I also have that on good authority).

Bleach any facial hair you may have above your lips (you can buy facial bleach in the drug store). It's easy to use, takes about 10 minutes, and makes a world of difference. Also, with a mirror and tweezers, check for any little stray hairs under your chin - they're sneaky and can grow there without you even knowing it.

Don't wear a lot of perfume (I don't ever use any - my husband and I prefer the clean smell of soap and shampoo to that perfume-ey smell). If you do wear it, wear very little. I've interviewed women for jobs that were wearing so much perfume I choked. It's very unappealing, and makes you want to run from the room in search of oxygen.

Well, I think that's it - we covered everything from head to toe. One last bit of advice is to look at men, smile, and say hi. It shows you're nice, and gives them an opening to say something to you. Good hunting, Girls!
