Jonas Åkerlund: From Crap To Rammstein

Swedish music video director Jonas Åkerlund is in the news again. He has a tendency of popping up in the news whenever he does something, controversial or not.

The critically acclaimed and popular director is most known for directing videos with Madonna and Metallica (the Metallica video featured former porn star Ginger Lynn Allen; a friend of Åkerlund's), but also for upsetting people with the video for "Smack your bitch up".

Åkerlund has also directed feature films, his first one was the Mickey Rourke starrer SPUN, a druggie movie that was hated by almost everyone who saw it.

This time, Åkerlund is in the news because of his latest, scandalous video: German industrial metal band Rammstein's "Pussy".

Now, THIS is what I call a music video! I've seen quite a few over the top videos that couldn't be shown on MTV, but I guess Åkerlund and Rammstein go one step further - as of this writing, the XXX-rated opus is only available to see on a porn site!

Interesting. Popular band. Famous director. And a video containing ... well, hardcore sex.

It's a pretty cool video, actually. Great looking, with homages to old smut films from the golden age. But beware - during the video's last minute, it all turns into ... sex. Close-ups and ejaculations. Keep the kiddies and prudes away.

The question is of course WHY Åkerlund and Rammstein decided to make a video few people will see. Or maybe they'll get MORE viewers this way?

Anyway - this is a BIG step for a director, who's career started in 1986 with THIS video. You won't believe your eyes, folks. This clip is from a TV show that makes fun of the video.
