How to apply makeup and look natural... Mastering the art of makeup is easy!

How to apply make-up

So you turn 10 years old and you’re really excited: You got a make-up kit for your birthday (a toy set, off course) and you spend hours applying “make-believe” mascara and powder . Then you turn 13 and start wearing real lip-gloss and by 16 you think you have officially mastered the art of applying make-up. But have you really?

Here are the 5 basic steps for applying make-up fast, simpel and beautiful:

1)      It all starts with the perfect foundation. Your foundation needs to be the same colour as your skin and needs to fit like a second skin. The vast majority of women have yellow based skin. To create naturally flawless skin rather wear a yellow-based foundation. When you have chosen your perfect foundation apply it to your face. Blend into your neck and into the hairline with your fingers or a sponge.

2)      Hide any marks or blemishes with concealer and blend with the foundation. Your concealer should normally be one shade lighter than your foundation.

3)      Apply a light powder to even out the foundation. This should be done with a brush and you should use very little – You don’t want to look caked up.

4)      Apply eyeliner and mascara. You can also use eyeshadows as eyeliners. The advantage of this is that you have many more colors to choose from. If you have wide eyes, emphasize the inner corners of your eyes. If you have narrow eyes, emphasize the outer corners of the eyes, keeping the inner corners highlighted. Mascara emphasizes the lashes and this is a great tool to make the face look fresh and your eyes more open. Always ensure that the mascara covers the lashes from root to tip.

5)      Apply lip-gloss or lipstick. To create a perfect pair of lips, start by lining with a neutral coloured pencil following your natural lip line. Use a lip brush to fill in the lip with lip colour of your choice. Use a brush to blend the two so that there are no obvious edges.

But: There is a huge difference between applying make-up for the day and for the night.

When applying make-up for the day, try wearing the minimum. You don’t want to look like a clown, so keep it natural. You can wear a lighter foundation during the day, but not too light! Wear lighter colours on your eyes (e.g. light pink). Don’t wear too much make-up on your lips: a little lip-gloss will look perfect. Make sure that you blend everything you apply with your foundation – it will give you an overall more natural look. Don’t wear too much blush or better yet: Don’t wear any blush if you do not need it, rather apply a darker powder on your cheeks and blend with your foundation. Wear little eyeliner (liquid eyeliners are best), but you can wear more mascara.

When going out at night you can wear darker make-up. Go for smoky-eyes: Apply eyeliner and blend a little around the eye. Wear colours like brown, gold, blue and green on your eyes. You can wear even more mascara than during the day. Also go for eyeshadows with a glitter base. This will give you a more glamorous look. You can also wear darker lipsticks and glosses.

Tip: Vaseline is a great tool to keep in your make-up bag. Use a little bit on your lashes or eyebrows to create a very natural look instead of mascara.

Also:  Make sure your eyebrows are always plucked

And: Always look in a good, well-lighted mirror before you leave the house and always have a small emergency make-up bag with you whenever you go out!!

Have fun..
