           Wooing, dating and courting a woman, perhaps are of recent origin.  I don’t think men and women in the BC era knew anything about love  or love marriage etc. But the modern generation have perfected the art.  Ask any young man around the age of 22-23, he  would tell you all about how to win over a lady or collect some girl friends.  In fact, every male would have developed his own formula  on how to  capture a  woman’s heart and he  wouldn’t  share his formulae with you either.  It’s his trade secret.

            Strangely, wooing seems to be an one  way road.  The initiative is always taken by the male.  If a girl falls in love with an young man, she won’t reveal her affection for him  directly and  would wait for the Man to make the first move based on the oblique hints she had transmitted to him..

            Are there any direct approaches to get friendly with a woman of your liking?

           Yes, Romeos with bags of experience could tell you how?. He would say,  “Stop a girl and  standing squarely in front of her  say,  ‘I like you’.”   Many boys have returned home having received a couple of slaps on their cheeks !

           Social parties or club jam sessions are the ideal venues for the young ones to meet the opposite sex freely without getting mauled..  If you are a bold guy you could just walk towards the girl you like and say, ”May I bring you   a drink?  Name it…”   If she likes you, she may say, “Oh, how nice of you? May I have a double scotch please with ice cubes…?”  If I were you, I would hide myself in  the next room and not appear in front of this girl  for the rest of the evening.  But then there are some generous fools who would buy the stuff and the girl herself  would vanish out of sight thereafter.

          If you  have spotted out a fair lady  of your taste in a group and you want to have a pow-wow with her say with a big smile,   “Excuse me, may I join you?”  Your esteemed might turn around and retort, “Why, is any of us falling apart or what?”  You become dumb at once and withdraw with another ‘Excuse me …” This one is too smart for you and so do her colleagues.  Avoid her.

        Don’t think, girls make themselves cheap and would fall at your feet just at a hand signal.  A rare few may. They are the not-so-good-looking –variety and they would go head over heels and do whatever you want them to do.  Some however would be real hard nuts. They are the so called bombshells or beauty queens who would walk with their nose up. If you offer them a drink or some snacks, they would hesitate at first but later finding you to be a spendthrift  would make you spend money left right and centre.  Have you really captured her heart?  No, she won’t give you the slightest hint about it and make you run after her for hours.  

        But our scientists have come out with a novel solution on  how to attract a woman and keep her on your hold.  Don’t ask, how scientists came into this field?  Haven’t they something better to involve themselves in?  True.  But some scientists take on  such projects which nobody wants to pursue. So, one Anthropology scientist from an University in Southern USA, had spent two years on this novel project – What makes a woman to get attracted to a man?  Mind you,  2 years on a school boy  like venture of this kind, is quite a lot. But then if a scientist says that he spent just 6 hrs to invent so and so formula, the world wouldn’t believe him. People might even say, “This chap  is a fraud and has copied someone else’s invention ! “ So, a reasonable period of time is a pre-requisite to earn an acceptance.   Hence 2 years on the part of our Anthropologist.  He claims he had interviewed some 2000 young women. And what’s his finding?   Wait a minute. You can’t get the answer so fast. Do remember  he had spent two  long years and can’t you wait for 2 minutes to know what it is !  It will lose all its charm otherwise.  Go to the next para.

        “All you do is, cut a joke on yourself and she will feel tickled and fall for you pilot, plane and passengers.”

       So, next time you are at a social party, do remember this angle.  It would cost you nothing.  But go to the party with a lot of jokes, such jokes which poke fun at yourself.                That’s what a woman is looking for  in you, my dear fellow?’

        “What if she doesn’t laugh at my jokes?” you ask.  In which case, get her a drink of your choice  OK?
