A friendly and outgoing individual might be unaware of the difficulty of making friends is to a quiet and shy introvert . The uneasiness and unpleasant feeling of having to meet new people could be overwhelming. For all those people who understand this issue, here are some suggestions on how to make friends if you're a self proclaimed introvert.

Make a choice to attend social gatherings. If you're in school, you should have no problem in this area. Your church is a great place to make new friends. You will be spending eternity forever, so why not take the effort to befriend them now.

Smile.Show no discomfort or fear. You might scare people away if you don't seem interested in making friends. Be open minded and friendly. Don't force the smile, instead enjoy the moment with a relaxed smile. There's plenty of good and interesting people you might get along with.

Scout out the place for people that might have similar likes as you. For example, maybe someone could be wearing a Tshirt you like or shoes even;this is great for making conversation. If you're a parent, this is easy. You can release your offspring and they'll do all the work for you.

Start with small talk. Don't mention anything too heavy. Mention something about what you noticed about them. Something that relates to you is great for starters. If you both have kids, make a comment about the kid and continue on. If you see a tattoo on the person you are approaching, and you like tattooes you might care to make an opinion about it.
