Photoshop Simple Step Creating Water Texture

Simple Photoshop Tutorial

I'm sure a lot of you know a way or two ..or ten to make a water texture with Photoshop, but what I'm trying to do is simplified it into just a few steps, yet achieves the desired effects, all with classic standard filters, so it doesn't matter which Photoshop series you're using. Also for those of you just beginning to use Photoshop, I hope this tutorial could be useful.

First of all, this tutorial done in 591 X 414 pixel working space / RGB mode.

Step 01:

Pay attention to the foreground/ background color palettes, make sure it's in black & white (default), then

Create clouds, go to : Filter > Render > Clouds

Step 02:

Use Chrome effects on the Clouds, go to : Filter > Sketch > Chrome

it'll bring up a menu with a preview and two settings : set "Details" to 0

set "Smoothness" to 1

click OK, then it should look something like this :

note : the Chrome settings doesn't have to be in those number, just try what feels right on the preview.

Step 03:

Increase the contrast, go to : Image > Adjustment > Brightness/Contrast

and then adjust the color with : Image > Ajustment > Color Balance

set the "Midtones" color balance towards "Cyan" and "Blue", not too much though, just want to make it blueish

click OK and It should look something like this :

And you're done!

Just experiment more with this texture, stretch it, press it, shape it, etc. For example :

Cheers and Happy Photoshoping!
