Swine flu is at present at world wide pandemic disease affecting the majority of countries. The symptoms do not differ from those experienced when having any other kind of flu, so medical tests before the condition is confirmed are required. The consequent treatment varies depending on the sufferer’s medical circumstances and the severity of the disease.
There are a number of ways in which you can protect yourself from getting swine flu, but none of them guarantees you 100% prevention. There is no specifically dedicated vaccine at present, although approval by the World Health Organization for a prototype is expected any day now. The virus is air-borne and anyone can get it at any place full of people, so you need to take adequate measures to detect the symptoms and report them immediately. In this way you will get timely and adequate treatment.
The most common symptom of swine flu is the high temperature over 100.4°F (38°C). The sore throat, running nose, coughs and shortness of breath are also signs you might be suffering from the condition. The constant and inexplicable fatigue combined with loss of appetite is also something swine flue sufferers most often complain from. The aching muscles and the head ache might also be signs you have got the virus. More serious symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea might also be present.
When you feel any of the above, the first thing to do is to take down your temperature. It is the most important single something is wrong with your body. In order to get the appropriate treatment you must not take any medications or take other measures before contacting your primary health care provider. It is best to call them immediately and not to leave your home. For additional support and advice, you can contact your local swine flu help center. You will have a medical check and some blood and maybe urine samples will be taken for the disease to be confirmed. The symptoms are way too standard in order to be determined with certainty that you are suffering from exactly this type of flu.
Usually, the treatment of the condition will start immediately before the medical test samples are taken and examined. Depending on the seriousness of the symptoms a hospital or home treatment will be prescribed. If there is a chance of possible complications due to the sufferer having immune system deficiency, a general respiratory condition or diabetes hospital treatment is required. However, most people who have detected the symptoms in time and are not feeling gravely ill and do not have any specific health problems in general will be advised to stay at home and take the appropriate medications. Those advised to do so are not allowed to lave until the set quarantine period is over and a physician has confirmed they are completely cured. The standard medications are the antiviral ones that are usually prescribed to patients suffering from any kind of flu. In the different countries various brands are available, but the most efficient and worldwide used swine flu drug is Tamiflu.
