THe best guide to all of the essential tops every woman should have in her closet.

If you are anything like me, you have three times as many shirts and tops as anything else in your closet.  I always encourage woman to have a variety to choose from, but lets not take it too far now.  This guide will help you to pick the tops you really need to have in your closet.

Blazer- Every woman needs a blazer as they are great for almost any occasion.  You can wear them on a date or to the office. I highly recommend that you purchase a tailored version to really polish any look that you may be going for.

Boyfriend Cardigan- This is one of my top fall and winter picks.  I like to wear mine like a jacket in some casual situations.  I advise that you choose one that is a bit oversized, has two front pockets, and about four to six buttons.  This way, you can really get the most out of your boyfriend cardigan.

Cable Knit Sweater- This is the ultimate cold weather piece to have.  I have a few in different colors and thickness.  Make sure the one you have is long and oversized.  You should always wear something small on the bottom when wearing a cable knit sweater.  I like wearing a pencil skirt or a pair of leggings with mine.  These amazing tops can be worn to the office or the Christmas party, as well as to a casual get together.

Cashmere Sweater- No matter what size or style you choose, make it of high quality.  Nothing is quite a luxurious feeling then wearing a cashmere sweater.  This is your ultimate dress up top.  I love to wear mine with a pencil skirt to all of those amazing Christmas and winter parties.

Man’s White Shirt- Yes, I mean the button up kind.  This is a great go to piece when you are in a bind to find a top that goes with everything else you plan to wear.  Get one that has simple buttons, and is made of cotton or fine linen for the most versatility.

Plain White Tee Shirt- I have at least three of these in different sizes and styles.  A white tee shirt and jeans are one of the fastest outfits to put together, just add accessories.  I love to wear brooches on my white tee shirts to dress up the look a bit.
