How to Pick the Right Diffuser for Your Essential Oil
While, it may not drive out the evil spirit giving you that headache; aromatherapy can definitely lift your spirits any day of the week.
Aromatherapy is not a new trend from California. The use of incense a form of aromatherapy where oils and other aromatic materials were burned in smoke to defuse the scent; probably before biblical times. At first the gums and oily resins of trees were the most common type of incense burned. Later processes that heated and extracted the essential oils of many different plants were used to create scents for religious and medical purposes.
Different plants and oils were used in ancient China, India, and throughout the Middle East. Many of this aromatic smell were thought to drive out spirits that caused illness and therefore were used as a form of medicine. While, it may not drive out the evil spirit giving you that headache; aromatherapy can definitely lift your spirits any day of the week.
Aromatherapy oils are made from various aromatic plants and barks. In the process of manufacturing the essential oil of the plant is drawn out. They are used as a building block in many aromatherapy products like lotions, bath oils, and room scents. The most common way of king’s essential oils to scent a room is by means of a diffuser. Aromatherapy discussers come in many different forms. Some use a small fan to spread the scent across the room on the manmade breeze. Others use candles to heat a separate container of the essential oil; therefore releasing the scent by creating intense evaporation. Other diffusers use the same concept of heat to disperse the scent but rely on an electric heating mechanism. Some dispersers just spray mist the room, at certain intervals with small amounts of the diluted essential oil. The most basic kinds of diffusers just let the scent evaporate naturally from the container
Your choice of diffuser will depend on how strong and how long you want the scent to linger. Heated methods of essential oil scent delivery offer an intense scent over a shorter period of time. The down side is you will essential oils will not last as long as the heat has speeded up the rate at which the oil evaporates. If you have pets and small children you may want to not use a candle diffuser and opt for a safer electric diffuser. If you want your room continuously scented throughout the day; you may want an aromatherapy mist diffuser that released scent at set intervals. If you are going for a natural level of scent in a small area then a natural evaporation method of scent diffusion would be a good choice. If you want subtle scent to cover a larger space then a fan type of aromatherapy diffuser will work best in that situation.
To keep the integrity of the scent of your essential oils you should store them in a cool dry location in dark glass bottles. If you do want to let the scents evaporate naturally into the air cover the container that you are letting the scent evaporate from with a small screen to keep it from getting contaminated dust and other debris from the air in the room. You can mix and match essential oils for aromatherapy. Scents like peppermint and cites combined make a happy revitalized smell to a room. Try different scents together to reflect your mood or a mood that you would like to create. Jasmine oil with any kind of musky scented oil creates a very sexual allure in a room. The possibilities are as endless as your scent imagination.
