Did you know you can use your Ipod as a storage devicde, just like a flash drive? Yes! Ipods can be used for more than an MP3 player. This guide will quickly show you how to  save data files onto your Ipod.

These tips will work well with most Ipod models, excluding the Ipod Shuffle. For tips on using the Ipod Shuffle as a storage device, see below. After you connect your Ipod to your computer, open Itunes if it does not open automatically.

In the source panel, select the Ipod icon and click on the summary tab. Here you will have two options. You can select either  manually manage songs and videos, or enable disk use. Choosing either one of these options will enable you to use your Ipod as a storage device. The difference between manually manage songs and videos and enable disk use is: the manually manage songs and videos option will not enable Itunes to auto automatically update the Itunes library while choosing the enable disk use will.

The Ipod Shuffle is a little easier to configure for storage usage. You will only need to choose the enable disk use tab and choose the amount of space you would like your Ipod Shuffle to designate for both data files and music files.

Here's how you will put the data files onto your Ipod. After configuring the Ipod, you will find its icon on the computers desktop. Simply double click the icon or drag and drop the files you want to put on your Ipod. Don't forget to check the size of your data file and the space availability on the Ipod before copying.
