Nail Polish is for men now?

It is being considered by a growing number to be the new 'earring' for men - nail polish. And severla companies have jumped in by offering masculine nail colors deisgned just for men!

It's hard to tell where it began, whether Candy Man got it going in the early 2000's, or maybe Suzi Weiss-Fischmann in her OPI blog last summer when she suggested that men wear their toenails polished, but whatever the cause, it is gaining popularity with many men to wear their toenails polished these days.

There is an understandable reason for it too.  Many women can attest to the fact that most men's feet look bad.  Their toenails are uneven, discolored and unhealthy.  The condition of their feet isn't much better with rough dry skin and tough, ugly callouses.  So, we have pretty well established that many men do not take care of their feet.

Apparently, some savvy men are listening, and the first step they are taking is to get past the common belief that this is only something women do, and they enjoy a professional pedicure on a regular basis themselves.  This soothing process helps to correct a lot of the appauling conditions mentioned above and serves to promote better foot care.  Men are also finding out that this can be a very relaxing and enjoyable experience, something that they may have been missing out on by not endorsing the many resulting benefits before.  And many nail salons offer special pedicures for men to help encouraged men to try this as well.  Some more forward-thinking salons even package spa pedicures with a discount for a companion, so couples can enjoy this treat together.  They feel that by offering the package deal, more men may be encourged to try this and generate some repeat business.

Men who do take care of their feet enjoy wearing sandals and receiving compliments rather than 'those looks' by their girlfriend, spouse or even potential girlfriends.  And it feels much better to have clean, smooth feet.

Wearing nail polish on toenails is something that has been gaining popularity with men too.  Clear is the most popular color for men and it gives the feet a clean and well-cared for look.  Colored nail polish is now available in masculine colors that look good on men's feet (and not just black), something that was in the past rather difficult to find.  BB Couture has recently released a collection of unique colors designed just for men.  Man Glaze offers two colors of men's nail polish with a distinctive matte finish.  Many of the more prominent nail polish companies have developed matte topcoat (in clear) for the man who does not care for the glossy nail look.

Men wearing nail polish is becoming a popular subject on many blogs and appears to be the new 'earring' for men.  Remember when people thought 'ewhttp://www...' when men would wear an earring?  It seems odd now not to see men with some kind of stud or jewel in their ears.  Wearing nail polish on feet appears poised to be the next craze for men, and it appears that the style conscious guys have jumped in with both feet!
