Murder Mystery Dinner
Murder mystery theater has been around a long time. Sometimes they're combined with a meal and held at a small venue.
You've just started a delicious meal. Suddenly there's a commotion at a nearby table. Two customers appear to be arguing. Then there's shoving. One man shoves the other to the floor. He jumps up with a knife that he thrusts into the other's chest. A police detective rushes in to tell everyone that it's not what it appears to be. The dead man also has a gun shot wound. Did a gun fire? That's how a murder mystery dinner might begin.
Murder mystery theater has been around a long time. Sometimes they're combined with a meal and held at a small venue. It's an evening of good food and good fun. Once the crime has been committed they love to put their brains to use. A variety of types of mysteries exist. The most basic involves interacting with the actors but not being asked to engage in solving the murder. A more popular version has the guests racing to solve the crime. Sometimes a guest or two are even in on the secret, asked to join the cast for the performance.
These mysteries have become popular for parties, special occasions and even entire weekends and cruises. Pop culture covers them. Movies and television have explored the concept. People invited to a party die one by one. There's a comedy version titled Murder by Death. In other versions, a mystery dinner is taking place when someone is really murdered. Adrian Monk, a TV detective, on his show was banned from a mystery weekend for solving the case in under five minutes.
Sometimes these mysteries happen at spooky locations . Many dinner theatres that specialize in murder mysteries boast that their location used to be a morgue, or is built on a graveyard, or that someone was murdered there in the past. It adds to the general fun even when not true. People who wouldn't believe it on any other day suspend their disbelief so they can have fun.
Some people love a good murder mystery dinner. They're not just for adults. Kids love a challenge and a show. Consider it for your next family outing.
