You can get free pencil sketches from your photos to use on Face or Twitter.

I love those pencil sketches people use on their Facebook page. I have even seen some on Bukisa and Ehow  as a profile picture or avatar. Sometimes people do it to maintain some privacy, and some people are just creative. There are a few sites where you can get free pencil sketches from a photo, but this one is the best. It produced the best results in the easiest of ways. No download was required. It was instant and totally free.

I went to Sketchmyphoto.com. They offer a pay service, but I used the free service. It produces a thumbnail quality that is suitable for Facebook, Twitter, or an avatar for   Bukisa. It has a signature of their site, but it is not unattractive. If you want a portrait quality, full-sized picture with no watermark, you can order it for $5.95. I thought this price was quite reasonable. I paid $4.00 in a machine in the mall for one sketch copy of my daughter. My understanding is that with this one, you would get the download.

So, after you go to the free part, you upload your photo. For those of you too embarrassed to ask what that means, you click on "Browse." Your own computer files will show up. You will click on the correct photo, and then click, "Open." Then click, "Upload." It only works with a JPG file photo.

After Upload, you will have the option to do free or paid. Scroll down to the free side; it has a "convert" button. You can skip the email and name blanks; they are optional.

It takes just a moment to download your pencil sketch. To save it, you right click it, and choose "Save Picture."

You can then upload your pencil sketch to Facebook, Twitter, or even Bukisa. Have fun!

You can see my photograph and then see my pencil sketch. You could probably get better quality with a more suitable photograph; I did not take time to read the specifics of what makes a great pencil sketch.
