Enable elementary school students to have more fun! Learn ideas for activities they can do!

Are you a physical education teacher or someone who is contemplating going into this field? Are you wondering what activities and sports you can have young kids engage in? There are so many things out there to do that it will make your head swim once you discover all of the available options. By reading this article, you will learn ideas you can use to let elementary school students play fun physical education games and activities.

One thing you can try is kickball. I had fun playing this game in elementary school. I do not remember the rules but I know that you do not need much equipment – you just need a large rubber ball and some bases.

Another game you can incorporate is dodge ball. You can play this game indoors or outdoors. To play this sport, have one kid throw a soft rubber ball at a bunch of other kids who are standing against a wall. Make it so that any kid who is hit becomes the next ball thrower.

Consider softball. Your kids can play this game if you have a baseball, a softball field, bats, catching gloves and bases.

Try volley ball. You just need a volley ball, an indoor or outdoor court and two poles to tie a volley ball net between.

Let your students test their strength through tug-of-war. This game involves two teams of players with one team trying to pull the other across a line with a rope.

Allow the kids to play tetherball. This game involves someone hitting a ball that is tied to a pole with his or her hands.

Try hopscotch. To play this game, you draw with chalk a diagram on the ground that goes from the numbers one to ten and you hop on each number.

Let the kids play tag football. When you play tag football, you prevent a touchdown by tagging the runner instead of tackling her or him. In addition to this game being safer than regular football, you do not have to provide helmets, knee pads or elbow pads.

Try piñata. This game involves trying to hit a stuffed object that hangs from the ceiling with a stick while being blindfolded.

If there are tennis courts on the school grounds, let the students play king-of-the-court tennis and rise-and-fly tennis. King-of-the-court tennis involves letting up to four people hit a tennis ball until he or she hits the ball out of bounds. Once someone hits the ball out of bounds, he or she sits down and the first person waiting in line comes in. Rise-and-fly tennis involves having up to four people play a set or a game in which you do not serve but you hit ground strokes until one side accumulates ten points before the other side does. Once the game or set is lost, a player on the losing side sits out and the first person standing in line comes in.

Other fun games your students can play include rope climbing, hide-and-seek, basketball, racquetball, handball, card games and board games. Use these ideas and more you can think of to let elementary school students play fun physical education games and activities!
